Solar Autonomy Calculator

Estimate how independent a PV system and optional battery can make you from grid electricity. The calculator estimates autonomy, grid import and on-site supply instead of asking for them as prior knowledge.

The solar autonomy calculator answers the independence question, not the profitability question: how much of your electricity use can PV and battery storage cover on site?

You can find this number on your electricity bill. It limits the maximum possible autonomy.
If unknown: PV size in kWp × roughly 900–1,000 kWh/kWp/year as a first estimate.
0 means: PV without battery only. The calculator estimates how much PV surplus becomes additionally usable.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does autonomy mean?

Autonomy shows what share of your electricity use is covered by solar power used on site.

Is high autonomy always economical?

No. More independence can be valuable, but profitability depends on battery cost, electricity price and feed-in tariff.

Why does the calculator not ask for autonomy?

Because autonomy is the decision metric the calculator should estimate from consumption, yield and battery size.
